Where Dreams Go To Die

On loess bluffs high above the plain
towers a statuesque oak with no memory
as wind whispers patterns on placid water
songbirds sing of hope in azure skies

Dreams tethered with love drift on sultry breezes
chasing willowy clouds to summer’s soft shoulder
caressed by sheltering limbs they become prisoners
no longer seeking fulfillment of childish wishes

Desperately seeking inspiration in fleeting daylight
my love’s caring hands grow cold to the touch
as painful eyes betray longing in a broken heart
yet tears fall to be devoured by parched earth

Immersed in endless beauty of nature’s undeterred wealth
with little reason to struggle against destiny’s will
for sadness of loss can never scream loud enough
to free dreams from its solemn resting place

Cruel is unintended consequences of circumstance
where forces of time are blind to unrealized ecstasy
obscuring the grace of endless compassion
with indifference to the promise of tomorrow

Unbounded love shall not secure freedom
for stormy night fade silently from view
as rain kiss crimson lips of passion
knowing dawn will steal heaven’s joy

Beauty abounds for final embrace burns
as dreams dies fearing the approaching sunset
on loess bluffs high above the plain
mourned by a statuesque oak with no memory

Cape of Spring

In lavender field of dreams lost
Wild winds beckon my love
Golden mane dances on sunlight
Boundless hunger in radiant eyes

In saffron meadow of time abandon
Silken perfume caresses my love
Oaks bow across newborn green
Tireless joy on silent lips

In burgundy claret of hope revealed
Fragrant bounty nourishes my love
Alluring glances over vanilla linen
Weightless melody of words unspoken

In sanguine velvet of desire found
Creamy skin envelops my love
Opal smile whispers breathless
Ceaseless beauty of supple curves

In ebony darkness of solitude sought
Ardent limbs cradles my love
Trembling hearts find wings
Endless ecstasy in moment shared

Longing

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again!
For so the night will more than pay
The hopeless longing of the day.

Come, as thou cam'st a thousand times,
A messenger from radiant climes,
And smile on thy new world, and be
As kind to others as to me!

Or, as thou never cam'st in sooth,
Come now, and let me dream it truth,
And part my hair, and kiss my brow,
And say, My love why sufferest thou?

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again!
For so the night will more than pay

A Frozen Tear

A frozen tear
Fell from the sky
Passion’s gift
Yielded in a sigh

Touching earth
Spring’s return
Hope suspended
Where desire burns

A frozen tear
Fell from her eye
Mournful silence
Whispering goodbye

Touching flesh
Cradled in hand
Memories burn
Diamonds in sand

A frozen tear
Is part of me
Surrounds a heart
None can see

Touching dreams
Hidden by night
Spirits dance
Disappearing by light

The Wire

There’s hard silence
On the end of a wire
Like the free trial
Time will expire

A book of photos
Gathers dust
Along the way
I lost the trust

It is her life
She can not share
If I was to fall
She can not care

Hoping to escape
She had a scheme
A distance shore
She builds a dream

Asking for little
Wanting too much
I look at the wire
Barely in touch

Should I let go
Adrift from shore
Tides wash away
Never was before

There’s hard silence
On the end of a wire
What does it matter
Only fools desire

Pierced the Armor, but Missed the Heart

Seeking riches
So terribly worn
Far from the kingdom
Where allegiance is sworn

Passing in silence
Wearily draw near
Revealing secrets
Forbidden to hear

Eyes of an angel
Hardened like steel
Longing of heart
Hoping to conceal

Many times victor
Over the years
Covering sadness
Hiding tears

Forgetting the moment
Shrouded in mist
Two souls reached out
Unable to resist

Soft lips touch
Beautiful caress
Taste of heaven
Never to confess

Sadness returns
Turning to depart
Having pierced the amour
But missing her heart

Falling to my knees
Grasping for breath
A heart has been pierced
Wounded til death

Sleepless

Winter digs salient talons in my flesh.
Naked trees shiver swimming in pewter skies.
Sun and stars stolen by monotone clouds.
Color sleeps under pale alabaster frost.

Restlessness is my unending consort.
Whispering for me to flee certain death.
Shrieking eagles shatter steel blue silence.
Fallen rose petals wander aimlessly.

Motionlessly I dance to a heartbeat.
Eagerly waiting for spring’s soft embrace.
Life labors under cold bitter fury.
Suspended in time bound by heaven and hell.

Sheltering embers of passionate warmth.
Fearful winter’s tempest will conquer.
Howling winds punish yielding ground.
Sorrow’s rewarded with frozen tears of azure.

Loneliness relentlessly corrodes every thought.
Time’s forever a prisoner of numbing stillness.
In another place sun lovingly caresses sand.
Yearning as another sleepless night greets me.

Clutching hope to my heart’s soul desire.
Perfumed memories drift from consciousness.
Grey silence lies down beside me.
Resolve ebbs as coldness touches my skin.

Inhaling deep icy breaths darkness falls.
Repose effortlessly washes over me in waves.
Resisting no more dreams emerge in shadows.
Ravens weeps as inevitability holds my hand.

Over a rainbow is promise of spring’s soft kiss.
Time floats unfettered above my mortal grasp.
Destiny holds if I shall awake from slumber.
Warily waiting for flowers to return I exhale.

A New Year Wish

To honor those who are gone for we hold their memory.
To cherish those who love us for they give us strength.
To follow your heart for it is the path of happiness.
To see through the eyes of a child for you will live forever.

To give of yourself to the world for it will free your soul.
To weep for those without hope for they will teach you.
To leave a legacy for the world shall remember you.
To live a life of urgency for our time is short.

To seek comfort in family for they connect our past.
To plant a tree for it shall grow for hundreds of years.
To inspire a dream in a child for they are our future.
To banish fear from our hearts for it clouds our mind.

To breathe every breath deeply for it might be our last.
To know the world a better place for you made it so.
To pause at the sight of beauty for it surrounds us.
To love unconditionally for it is the reason we exist.
